  • Weekday, Weekend, or Long Weekend? Choosing the Best Wedding Date for the Ultimate Party

When you're planning a wedding that's all about the vibe, the party, and unforgettable moments , one big question can sneak up on you fast: What day of the week should we get married? While weekends are traditional, weekdays and long weekends are growing in popularity—and for good reason. So, let’s break down your options based on what matters most: the party , the guest experience , your budget , and the time of year. Weekday Weddings (Sunday –Thursday) Perfect for: Couples who want a more intimate party, a better deal, or a unique mid-week celebration. Pros: Budget-Friendly – Venues and vendors often offer discounted rates. More Availability – Easier to book your dream DJ, glam photo booth, or LED dance floor without the wait. Low-Key & Intimate – Guests who show up mid-week are there for you and ready to celebrate. Cons: Work Week Conflicts – Some guests may need to take time off or leave early. Earlier Wrap Times – Weeknight energy can dip if people have early mornings. Party Tip: If you're planning a weekday wedding, lean into a sunset ceremony and a high-impact dance party that wraps by 10 or 11PM. Weeknight weddings can feel exclusive and luxurious with the right mood lighting, cold sparks, and a DJ who knows how to read the room. 🎉 Weekend Weddings (Friday–Saturday) Perfect for: The classic party weekend with everyone on the dance floor and zero excuses to leave early. Pros: Max Guest Attendance – Friends and family are free and in celebration mode. Full Weekend Vibes – Think welcome parties, Sunday brunch, or an after-after party. Prime Time for a Party – Late-night dancing, glow-ups, and good vibes. Cons: Higher Cost – Prime dates mean higher vendor and venue prices. Busy Season Conflicts – Especially during summer and fall, guests may be juggling multiple events. Party Tip: A Saturday night wedding in July with dancing on the clouds and cold spark fountains? Yes, please. But book early— the hottest dates book fast , especially if you want premium entertainment. Long Weekend Weddings Perfect for: Destination weddings, extended celebrations, and couples who want to maximize the experience. Pros: Extra Day to Party – Use the holiday for pre- or post-wedding events. Travel-Friendly – Guests have more flexibility to fly in or drive out. High Energy – Everyone’s in holiday mode and ready to celebrate hard. Cons: Higher Travel & Hotel Costs – Holiday weekends often come with surcharges. Competing Plans – Guests may already have long weekend traditions or trips. Party Tip: Long weekends are made for multi-day experiences . Kick things off with a welcome party, glam it up with a full wedding day, then send your guests off with brunch or a farewell hangout. 🌸 Timing & Time of Year Don’t forget that your wedding season influences the vibe: Spring : Fresh, floral, romantic—weekday weddings shine here with soft lighting and chill energy. Summer : Peak wedding season. Long days, hot nights, and perfect for wild weekend bashes. Fall : Moody, magical, and perfect for golden-hour ceremonies and high-style receptions. Winter : Cozy, classy, and under-rated. Think black tie, candlelight, and indoor dance floors lit to perfection. So... What’s the Best Wedding Day for You? Here’s our hot take: Go weekday if you’re budget-savvy, love the idea of a more intimate setting, and want to stand out. Go weekend if you want max attendance, a full send-off party, and an open dance floor 'til late. Go long weekend if you're dreaming of a multi-day experience and a blowout bash. • What a Wedding DJ Can (and Should) Customize For Your Big Day

Not all DJs are created equal. And when it comes to your wedding, “just playing music” is only scratching the surface. At ‘Til Death Do Us Party , we believe your wedding entertainment should feel as intentional and elevated as the rest of your day. Here's what a pro DJ can customize— and what you deserve from your DJ company. 🎶 The Music, Obviously—but Better We’re not just taking requests. We offer: Cloud effects for your first dance (hello, dreamy photos!) Cold sparks for grand entrances or exits LED dance floors to transform any space We handle the setup, the safety, and the wow factor. 🧠 Timeline & Flow Control A good DJ doesn’t just follow the plan—they help create it.We coordinate with your planner and vendors to make sure: Your timeline flows smoothly No moment feels rushed or awkward You never have to worry about what’s next When the energy dips, we lift it. When the emotions peak, we amplify them. 💔 What You Get From Just Any DJ Other companies might: Show up with generic gear and no lighting Ignore your music preferences Leave awkward gaps or silence during key moments Prioritize their playlist over your experience At ‘Til Death Do Us Party , your day isn’t “just another gig”—it’s a story we help tell. Your wedding deserves more than background music. It deserves a team that’s just as obsessed with your experience as you are. • Crafting a Killer Cocktail Hour

The Cocktail Hour is a staple in Western Wedding culture. It was created to occupy guests while the Wedding Party has their photos taken. Although the cocktail hour is a good buffer between the ceremony and reception, it can sometimes be an awkward period of guests mulling around, unsure of what to do with themselves. This is especially true for any guests who may not know anyone besides the Bride and Groom. However, there are lots of ways to ease the awkwardness during a cocktail hour. The following are just a few of our favourite ideas to get your guests comfortable and excited for the night ahead! Finger Foods The last thing we want is the Bride's goofy uncle getting a little too into the "cocktail" part of the hour on an empty stomach, and taking a stumble into the cake table. Make sure you've got hors d'ouvres to soak up that alcohol and keep things low-key. This is also helpful for any guests who are planning to drive, don't drink, or have any blood sugar issues and might need that little pick-me-up to hold them over until dinnertime. Games What better way to pass the time than with some friendly competition? If there are kids at your wedding, games can be a godsend! You can do this a few different ways. Your emcee can guide the room in some games, like a themed scavenger hunt or bingo. Have a table of board or card games for guests to choose from to bring back to their tables and play! Photo Scavenger hunt: have a sign listing out different photo opportunities throughout the room, and asking guests to see if they can find all of them! Signature Cocktails Do you and your future spouse have a favourite drink? Or maybe your wedding has a distinct theme that you can find fitting drinks for. Signature cocktails are a fun way for guests to feel like part of an experience! You can always turn it into a game as well and keep a running tally of which drink guests think is better! Entertainment Another option is to provide some entertainment for the guests to take in while they enjoy their cocktails. This could be a performance artist like a magician or silk dancer, or something more interactive like a live painter or charicaturist! Whatever you choose, a little entertainment and your guests won't even miss you while you're off taking photos. Smart Soundtrack You might think a DJ is only for the dance party part of the night, but including them in your cocktail hour is a sure-fire way to fight awkard silence. A DJ can read the room, and make informed choices on what kind of music to play in the background of cocktail hour, and can add a little audible punch to any games your emcee might initiate! Selfie Stations Your guests got all dolled up for your day, why not provide them with some fun photo opportunities to take advantage of that! Have a few decor moments and selfie stations around the room to let your guests bring out their inner model! What if we don't want booze? If you're having a dry wedding, or you just aren't all that into indulging in alcohol, there are still options to make the "cocktail hour" a hit! Try a Coffee Bar Hour! Have iced or hot, caffeinated or decaf, syrups, toppings, and appetizers that go well with that coffee flavour! S'mores or Candy Bar: have a "buffet" where guests can load up on something snacky that you love! Custom Mocktails: provide your guests with fun and signature alcohol-free drinks to enjoy! Include some of these tips and tricks, and your wedding is sure to be a hit with everyone in attendance!

  • Giving Your Guests The VIP Treatment

You know your wedding will be a day that you'll never forget, but what about your guests? Don't you want to make it just as unforgettable for the loved ones who've gathered to celebrate your love? Lets show your guests just how special they are to you by making them feel like the Ultimate VIPs! Here are some tips and tricks to make sure they have a smooth and delightful time: Seating Chart Make sure your guests can easily locate their spots with a beautiful, clearly marked seating chart. This makes the night smoother for you and your guests. A seating chart ensures not only that everyone has a place, but that people are seated with others who can make them feel comfortable and make the night more enjoyable! Wow Factor Give your guests some excitement before they even sit down by giving your venue a Wow Factor as soon as guests walk in. This could be our Glam Photo Booth, an eye-catching piece of decor that your guests will want to pose with, or an interactive element such as a Champagne Fountain! Let your guests feel transported when they enter your wedding! Signage Of course we want everything at our wedding to be beautiful, but don't forget about ease of use. Ensure you have directional signage that is clear and easy to navigate. Pick a font that is not only beautiful, but also easily readable and make sure all signage is clearly visible even to any guests with reduced vision. A Touch of Glam Our Glam Photo Booth is a great way to make wedding guests feel like the million-dollar VIPs they are! With 4x6 metallic prints that can be Colour or Black & White, a classic white or black backdrop, and professional DSLR photography, this photo booth will be a hit for all who attend. Not to mention, you'll get a complimentary Memory Book filled with love from all your guests! Favour Flavour Giving your guests something to go home with is pretty standard wedding procedure, but why not kick it up a notch? A good way to ensure your favours are enjoyed by guests is to make it an interactive experience! Have a dessert bar showcasing your faves with cute and classy to-go containers, or a candy bar with monogrammed bags for guests to load up. Sweet Soundtrack There's nothing worse than awkward silence in a room full of people who may not know each other, or see each other often. A close second is those people having to deal with a DJ who can't read the room. Make sure your DJ understands how to make seamless transitions between the different elements of your wedding, and how to keep good vibes flowing! This way, your guests never have to feel uncomfortable. Use these tips, and book with 'Til Death Do Us Party to give your wedding guests the ultimate VIP Glow Up !

  • What is Wedding Production?

Wedding production is the design and construction of a wedding event, including s tyling and creating flow . It can include:  Lighting : Spot lights, mood lighting, stage washes, fairy lights and mirror balls   Sound : Wireless radio mics, PA systems, mixing decks, and sound engineers  Stage : Elevated stages, draping, backdrops, and tablescapes.  Other elements : Dance floors, Design Elements, Photo Ops For events with a substantial guest list, or couples who want that effortlessly glamorous event, wedding production can play a crucial role. Production elements are instrumental in creating a wow factor and enhancing the overall atmosphere of the wedding.  A wedding production coordinator offers support throughout the entire process, from suggesting rentals to orchestrating the rehearsal and ceremony, as well as executing plans. Do you have to have production? If you don't have a large showband, it might not be necessary. However, consider these issues: the time of day, lighting when it gets dark, how to create a party atmosphere, whether you need a stage or dance floor, or if you can manage without them, and if you require a PA system for speeches. If, after considering these questions, you find that only a PA system is necessary for speeches, you might spend very little on this part of your day. However, remember that for your party or dancing, creating the right mood or atmosphere is important, and this is best achieved with some party lighting, even if it's minimal. Why Production? An experienced team will expertly optimize every design element to create a seamless and visually stunning event. They can also address any potential problems during setup, guaranteeing a smooth event day with no unexpected issues. Additionally, they can assist in answering any questions about incorporating extra features into your event and the best locations for them, such as interactive experiences like photo booths, to enhance your guests' enjoyment! Why does production have to cost so much and why are my quotes so varied? Like everything in life, goods can be bought in various material qualities and service standards. Production services follow this same principle. Lighting  – consider the lighting in your home; the quality of the illumination is somewhat influenced by how much you invest in the lighting unit, and the same principle applies to event lighting. Each lighting unit used at your event comes with a purchase price, as well as costs for storage, maintenance, and transportation to and from the event location. Stage Specification  – consider stage design as an example; it could be a basic platform stage for a sweetheart table or a custom-built stage with tiers, mitred edges, stairs, and more... the size of your venue can greatly impact if you will require a stage so you and your head table can be seen. Dance floors  – You will have a couple of options between click-together dance floors, LED Dance floors, and vinyl print dancefloors. T here will be a significant cost difference between dance floors that are regularly maintained and replaced when scratched or worn out, and those from a company that repeatedly sends out the same components year after year without any maintenance or replacement of worn sections. How much production is required to meet your needs. The number of staff allocated to the event  – ensuring  that the production supplier has an adequately sized team working on your wedding day. If not, and the setup isn't completed on time, it could disrupt all your other suppliers and potentially affect your wedding schedule in a worst-case scenario. Setting up a wedding with lighting, sound, stage, and dance floor is a significant task and requires the production team to be on-site early in sufficient numbers. Additionally, they need a team assigned for the "de-rig" at the end of your event to ensure the venue is completely vacated by the end of the rental period.
